Local bakers, Da Bara Bakery, have been recognised in the World bread awards 2013 winning a silver and two bronze medals.
The local bakers who have their bakery in Grampound Road, entered the World Bread Awards for the first time back in August and are delighted by the results.
Ben Hawkins, one of the two brothers who founded Da Bara told Roseland Online, “I saw some tweets mentioning the awards back in August and we had never entered any kind of competition before, but always been curious to see what the result might be. We entered 4 loaves and had results with 3 of them, bronzes for wholewheat and ciabatta and silver for white tin. Our ciabatta was runner up in its category.”
The South Central Cornwall company, whose artisan breads are now sold throughout Cornwall, were up against some stiff competition including the World Famous ‘The Bread Factory’ in San Francisco and the BBC Best Food Producer in 2012, the ‘Pump Street Bakery’, so these wins were particularly welcome for this young Cornish company.
Ben added, “We are delighted with our success and proud to bring these awards back to Cornwall. Also we will be baking from our new bakery from this Monday so very exciting times for Da Bara.”
Of course, everyone at Roseland Online wish the boys every success in the future and congratulate them for, once again, putting South Central Cornwall at the forefront of creative gastronomy.
