The newly completed Veryan and Roseland Tennis Club Pavilion and Floodlights will be opened by Sarah Newton MP and Sue Eames, Chair of Tennis Cornwall on Saturday, 9 April 2016 at 2.30 pm. The project was partly funded by a major grant from Sport England Inspiring Facilities programme.
Speaking to Roseland Online Chairman, Fr Doug Robins, said “There had been a great deal of voluntary work carried out at all stages of the project in order to keep within budget. The Sport England grant amounted to £50,000 and the Club had raised over £30,000 through appeals and various other fund-raising activities. It has been a fantastic effort.”
The new facilities, which complement the two all-weather courts, allow people to play tennis all year round with the lights extending evening play until 10.00pm. The new Pavilion provides toilet, changing and kitchen facilities and is fully accessible to people with reduced mobility. for those who prefer the smaller ball game, the Pavilion also boasts a table tennis table which will also enable members to carry on playing when the weather prevents outside play.
New members will be warmly welcomed and further information may be obtained from the secretary, Mrs Linda Burgess, The Old Stables, Crugsillick, Ruan High Lanes, Truro TR2 5LJ, on 01872 501783 or at linda.burgess.7cc@btinternet.com.
