11.06.12: A South Central Cornwall photographer, Katie Emmett – who lives on the Roseland Peninsula – is taking part in a group exhibition in Truro with her eighteen course students.
Along with her peers from her foundation degree course in photography, Katie, is marking the end of her year with an exhibition at the Lander Gallery in Lemon Street Market. Katie’s subject is her own village of Portscatho using an age old photography process.
Katie told Roseland Online, “The work I’m showing is part my final major project, for which I created photographs using glass plate negatives. The process involves coating a sheet of glass with liquid photographic emulsion and exposing in a large format camera from which I create a negative for use in creating photographic prints. I used this technique to photograph the village of Portscatho in a process inspired by 19th century photography.”
Katie and her peer’s work will be exhibited at the Lander Gallery in the Lemon Street Market between Tues 11th to Sat 16th June from 10am to 5pm. Entrance is free.
