Margaret Cortis from Veryan was presented with her British Empire Medal by Colonel Sir Edward Bolitho, Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, at a special service in Veryan Church last month.

The award was made in recognition of Margaret’s exceptional services to the church, community, charities and caregiving.

The service was attended by her family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances. After the service there were refreshments with a celebratory cake specially made to mark the occasion.
