The REACT group has been busy this autumn – preparing the new tree nursery site in the Veryan Primary School ‘Wild Tribe Field’ on Pendower Road in Veryan. On 21st September a working party cleared turf and prepared the ground to plant out oak, hazel, hawthorn and other small saplings. These will be sourced from a number of sites on the Roseland. Once transplanted they will be overwintered at the tree nursery ready to be planted in their ‘forever home’ next year and/or the following year.
Local people will be invited to request one of these saplings to plant in a suitable location We are keen that the right tree is planted in the right place. Each tree will be supplied with a tree guard and clear advice about how best to care for the trees. If you have available land; whether a hedge, field, or garden site that you would like to plant trees on please do get in touch with The REACT team. As these trees will not be available for planting out until autumn 2021 and into 2022 any ‘expression of interest’ about suitable sites will be added to our tree site list. Once planted the trees will be added to the Forest for Cornwall database.
