A new year, a new opportunity? Grant funding is increasingly becoming available to support local environmental projects. To take advantage of this and expand our effectiveness, REACT is looking to progress from being a local group of enthusiastic volunteers into a constituted organisation. We are therefore now looking for a financially aware person to become our Treasurer, which will be on a voluntary basis and anticipate could require a couple of hours attention per week. Could you be this person? If you think so, please do get in touch using the details below.
We have recently been discussing localism: Do you prefer to buy things locally produced? Is there something you would like to buy locally but which you haven’t been able to locate? Let us know! Perhaps we can marry up your wants/needs with a local supplier, benefitting you both and the environment by reducing transportation emissions.
Do you like walking? Have you heard of Slow Ways? This is a national project which aims to map the walking routes between towns and villages across Britain and they are looking for volunteers – individuals or groups – to walk the known routes to check viability and to fill in any knowledge gaps. If you are interested in finding out more please see their website at https://slowways.uk/.
Don’t forget, if you are looking to switch to a fossil-fuel free electricity supplier we can help you! To find out more, contact Jo Hollah on 01872 580850 or Joanna.holah@tiscali.co.uk
Our members are still keeping in touch by zoom meetings and if you would like to be included in these please contact us and we will send you the link.
We would very much welcome your feedback on the above so please do contact REACT (info@react.org.uk). Alternatively, if you have questions/comments about low carbon energy or other environmental initiatives please do get in touch. You can also follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/RoselandEnvironment.
Finally, from all of us at REACT, we wish you a Happy New Year. Traditionally the time for new starts, should you be wondering how to reduce your environmental impact during 2021 do get in touch – we are always happy for more members as many hands do make light work!
