For the past five years, the RNLI has been raising funds through the Castle 2 Castle Swim. The Swim is a one mile open water sea swim across the mouth of the River Fal.
Swimmers start at Pendennis Castle in Falmouth and finish at St Mawes Castle on the Roseland Peninsula. The next Swim will take place on Sunday 8 June with swimmers setting off at 12.30.
Due to the nature of this event participants have to be intermediate or experienced open water swimmers that have previously swam at least one mile in open water. That said, the event has already attracted the maximum 400 swimmers, some as young as 14!
For those who are not swimmers, there will be ample opportunity to watch from vantage points on either side or you take part in other events connected to our local lifeboat.
The RNLI told Roseland Online that “thanks to all the participants of this event over the past five years they have been able to raise a tremendous amount of money for the RNLI, which has gone directly to helping save lives at sea and around our coastline. The swim is an absolutely fantastic event largely run by volunteers, without whom it would simply not be possible.”
Those living in or visiting the Roseland are generous supporters, but more help is always needed. Readers may be interested in donating here.
