Jane Lovett has recently qualified as Community First Responder (CFR) for the Roseland Peninsula.
Jane moved to St Just in Roseland almost four years ago. She practised medicine for the last 40 years in Australia where she specialised in Paediatrics, remote rural General Practice and Emergency Medicine. She was also a beef cattle farmer for over thirty years.
Many of you may know Jane as a Watchkeeper for the National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) Portscatho. Or you might have seen her with her horse, Nero, in Veryan.
CFRs attend particular types of emergencies where it is essential for the patient to receive immediate life-saving care. This includes conditions such as:
Cardiac arrest
Chest pain
Breathing difficulties
Unconscious patients
Fitting patients
Patients suffering from a stroke
Choking
Anaphylaxis
Jane said: “It is a huge privilege and honour to be part of this network of emergency volunteers. Although the Roseland is my designated area I could find myself travelling much further afield to cases in other areas of Cornwall.”
Jane can be contacted only by dialling 999 and requesting the ambulance service.
