11.08.12: A comprehensive film of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations in St Mawes has been launched in a newly released DVD. The DVD features their ambitious Children’s Coronation which culminated in the Coronation State Coach being paraded through the streets, as it was for the 50th celebrations ten years before.
Organiser, Yvonne Fuller, told Roseland Online, “During the event, ’The Queen’ set off two torch runners to Summers Beach. They rowed across the harbour in a gig and climbed up with their torches to light the beacon on the end of the Quay… it was pure magic and it is all filmed for prosperity in this new DVD.”
The filming was done by local filmmaker, Andrew Ayre, and is in three sections: The Children’s Coronation 2012 Introduction and Ceremony; The Coronation Gallery 2012 in photos; and the other day’s events including the Street Party, Hog Roast and the Sailing along with the bands who performed that day along with the closing firework display.
Yvonne added, “Plenty of orders for the DVD were taken on the day by people who had been thrilled to bits by quality of the whole series of events we put on. So we have had lots of DVDs printed.”
The DVDs can be bought for £10 each from the Roseland Visitor Centre and proceeds will benefit local children in the Parish, because all profit from the sales will go to local children’s charities and organisations such as the Play Group, St Mawes School PTA.
