On Sunday 2nd June, the 60th anniversary of The Coronation of HM Queen Elizabeth II will be celebrated with a full scale re-enactment of the Coronation in Truro Cathedral led by the children of St Mawes, together with the Cathedral Choir and Organ and the City of Truro Pipes and Drums.
Children are especially invited to come and join in the singing, and people of all ages are welcome to attend this historic occasion, some of whom may remember the original Coronation in 1953.
The event is FREE but ticketing details are yet to be released, so watch out for more information.
If there are any children aged 7- 12 who would love to take part, there is still room for you to dress up and walk in the grand Processions, both with the Coronation Coach and inside the Cathedral.
The Children’s Coronation committee are also desperately in need of a large Horse Trailer or Horsebox tall enough to take the Coronation Coach, together with an eager and helpful driver. It needs to be 8’6″ tall or 2.60m. The Coach has to be taken from St Mawes between 18th and 20th May and stored in premises near Probus. On 2nd June it needs to be moved from Probus to Truro Cathedral in the morning and returned to Probus after 6 pm the same day.
