Starring Gemma Arterton, Martin Compston & Eddie Marsan, directed by J Blakeson.
In this breathtaking thriller, two masked men seize a young woman, Alice Creed (Arterton), daughter of a millionaire. Her coldly efficient kidnappers have worked out a meticulous plan, but Alice is not going to play the perfect victim. In a tense power-play of greed, duplicity and survival we discover that sometimes disappearances can be deceptive. And tense it is. This film is an utterly gripping and unpredictable thriller, featuring a mesmerising performance from the whole cast and is a masterclass in suspense, showing just what can be done with few cast and locations. And with more twists than a Curly Wurly, it keeps you guessing from the first frame to the last! A must see.
Verdict: If you see one thriller this year… and all that. *****
