A South Central Cornwall Camp/Caravan site has won the South West Tourism Excellence Awards most prestigious prize. Trethem Mill run by the Akeroyd family was awarded Gold in the highly competitive category of “Caravan, Holiday Park & Village of the Year”.
Ian and Jane Akeroyd told Roseland Online, “We are very proud to also be awarded the prestigious top award of “Winner of Winners”, chosen by the judges from all the tourism businesses that were represented.”
When announcing the Winners award the judges said of Trethem Mill:
“There are no rules for how the Winner of Winners is selected, but this year’s decision was unanimous in favour of a business that has excelled in meeting the dual tests of continual excellence and continuous improvement.
“This business stood out to the judging panel as a beacon amongst the region’s best – a past national award winner that has simply carried on getting better! It is entirely family run and guests are assured of a genuine warm welcome from people who care about the park as a home and a business. It offers a relaxed, informal atmosphere while retaining a carefully managed environment that is friendly and approachable. Â
“The love and attention that goes into the park is clear to any visitor, with a visible commitment to the customer, to service and to excellence. What’s more, this doesn’t come from some anonymous funder, but from the passion and commitment of the family that owns and runs it.
“This family goes above and beyond to make sure customers have everything they need for an enjoyable stay. This includes providing an on-site shop with all the essentials, plus the facility to order local fresh artisan bread. They arrange for the local wet fish and fish & chip van to call, there is also a book exchange and pick-your-own herb garden.”
The awards night took place at the Eden Project in Cornwall and was hosted by BBC radio journalist Daphne Skinnard and comedian Lloyd Griffith.
Trethem Mill will now go on to represent the Southwest in the Visit England National awards on the 20th May in Manchester and everyone here at Roseland Online wishes them all the very best and a big thank you for keep South Central Cornwall on the map as one of the best places in the UK as a holiday destination.
