Veryan & Roseland Tennis Club will receive £50,000 of National Lottery funding towards improving its facilities which will include replacing its existing limited court-side shelter with a larger clubhouse with changing and toilet facilities.
New facilities will enable better safeguarding of juniors as well as provide court-side viewing for parents during Junior sessions. The funding will also provide floodlighting to LTA standards and so extend the use of courts into the evenings outside of the summer to provide greater opportunities for playing tennis, especially those who wish to play after work. This funding is a very significant addition to funds raised by the Club itself over the last 3 years and reported on Roseland Online.
Club Chairman and popular local vicar, Father Doug Robins told Roseland Online, “We are delighted to have secured this investment; we can now make tennis more available to people across the Roseland and beyond and, importantly, enable us to provide better opportunities for young people to enjoy tennis.”
Local MP, Sarah Newton, said “I was delighted to read of the funding granted to Veryan & Roseland Tennis Club, and to learn of the exciting changes this money will enable. The new and improved club facilities should make a real difference to the experience of club users, enabling longer play and better viewing facilities for parents watching their children compete. I send my heartiest congratulations to the Club on their successful fundraising effort and hope that other local clubs can be inspired by their example and explore the support of offer from Sport England.”
Congratulations from Roseland Online!
