Stranded on a dark and isolated railway station in the depths of the Cornish countryside, a disparate group of passengers face an unnerving night riddled with stories of death, superstition and ghostly goings on.
That’s the setting for The Veryan Players latest, and one of their most ambitious productions to date.
‘Ghost Train’ written by playwright and actor Arnold Ridley – who is probably better known to most of us as the bumbling Private Godfrey in Dad’s Army – will test the skills of the backstage team. It will be their job to create the spector of a runaway ghost train which, legend has it, streaks through the station at the dead of night, to its doom.
Set in the 1920s its cast of beleaguered passengers have been stranded on the supposedly haunted station after their train breaks down. They must decide what their options are and how, if they can, escape their night of terror.
With casting underway and opening night on the Thursday 27 March producers, father and daughter team, Peter Lloyd and Michelle Couch, are looking for volunteers to help the backstage team. Their job will be to create the special effects that will make this production worth stepping into the night for.
So, who dares to board the Ghost Train? If you can help, please email Michelle and Peter – michellecouch72@gmail.com
The production will run from Thursday 27 March to Saturday 29 March.
