Zio The Hero by Marc Grimston – Published by Fastprint 2011 and reprinted in 2013

The Baron is an out and out rotter, an old school baddie (boo! hiss!) but he’s no match for Zio the dragon. Zio is a hero, even his name means brave and fearless, but he’s not the only one.

With torture, traitors and trebuchets, bloodshed, brutality and burgers, this is not a story for the faint hearted. An inventive plot which leaves scope for the reader to use their own imagination and has just the right amount of humour to take the edge off the violence.

Although I’m several years past the target readership age (around 8) and I don’t have children, I really liked this book; if it didn’t sound so old fashioned, I’d call it “a ripping yarn”! A book to read all in one go or to read at bedtime, a chapter at a time.

Notes:
1. smoking really is bad for your health; and
2. no hamsters were harmed in the writing of this book, although quite a few humans got their just desserts!
