Murder Most Unladylike by Robin Stevens – Published by Puffin, 2016  (or possibly, 1934)

Crikey! There’s been a rather shocking murder at Deepdean School For Girls, but fortunately, The Wells & Wong Detective Society are on hand to solve the crime. Daisy and Hazel can’t wait to track down the murderer (or to be more accurate, Daisy can’t wait to track down the murderer whilst Hazel writes up notes about  the case).

Ignore the fact that this is marketed as children’s fiction, it’s one for all of us who look back fondly to The Secret Seven and The Twins at St Clare’s. Imagine, if you can, a mystery written by Agatha Christie, with characters from Enid Blyton’s classics, or maybe it’s the other way around?

A jolly good read with plot twists, great atmosphere and wonderful characterisation. Absolutely spiffing. I’ve already started the next one.
