Edie Starring Sheila Hancock and Kevin Guthrie Directed by Simon Hunter
After her controlling husband of forty years dies, an elderly woman embarks on a trip to fulfil her longtime dream of climbing a mountain in the Scottish Highlands.
A delightfully simple premise and it started well. From mid way it did become somewhat formulaic and Edie’s character seemed somewhat uncharacteristic for someone who had undergone bad treatment herself to be like this to someone else, but it certianly improved towards the end and although not the best film of its genre, it will resonate with many and get good audience empathy (maybe it’s me who’s the grumpy old git! ;-0)
Verdict: A bit of a bumpy ride but ties together towards the end of a clean finish. ***
This film will e show at The Harbour Club Portscatho on Monday 19th November
