01.01.11: Portscatho will be featured on a new TV show to be aired on ITV in the New Year. Robert Gray, who spends half his time on the Roseland and the other half in his London home of Greenwich, has been filmed at his home in Portscatho for “May The Best House Win!”. The show is a cross between “Come Dine WIth Me” and “Hotel Inspector” where home owners are invited to score each other’s homes.
In an exclusive Roseland Onlineinterview, actor Robert told us; “Portscatho is one of the collest uncoolest places I know and I always get goose bumps when I turn onto New Road and catch that stunning view.”
Robert has already been on a host of other reality shows including “Bargain Hunt” and “Hotel Inspector” and this is another notch in his TV belt and one set to put the Roseland on the map again.
Robert went on to say; “We did some filming at home, where I invited Father Doug Robbins to come over for tea for extra fun on the show, and we also filmed at Ralph’s Stores where we bought some of baker, Richard Wallis’ homemade fairy cakes from their excellent bakery to treat our guests with.
Other local products to be seen on scattered about Robert’s home are flowers from The Blue Carrot and the Book of Gerrans and Portscatho by local author, Chris Pollard.
The series will run every weekday for six weeks starting at 2.00 pm on 6th January but the actual airing date for Robert’s show has yet to be announced. Not resting on his laurels, Robert is also currently making a documentary about the build-up to the 2012 Olympics in Greenwich for the BBC.
