Mevagissey Activity Centre (MAC) Rocks Out

28.02.12: ‘Rock Out’, the name of a new club, has been formed in Mevagissey by local PCSO Tony Hemming. Fourteen young people turned up, and such was the success of the project, further sessions have been arranged. But the group needs more instruments to sustain the course and also more music teachers.

Tony told Roseland Online, “Music is something I’m quite passionate about and I think it’s great so many kids got involved to use the instruments that were mainly unused and redundant in the MAC. We’re hoping to get some funding to help pay for teachers, but if anyone can play a guitar or drums – pretty much anything – we’d love to hear from them.”

They are running courses in the evenings on Tuesday March 6th and Tuesday March 13th between 6pm and 8pm and would welcome visits from any more budding young musicians or anyone interested in teaching.

Tony added, “I really want to keep momentum up as I believe we will have at least two bands come out of this, so helping them would be a great way to help the community. We’d like to showcase the two bands at June’s Feast Week so anyone interested in helping, or generally able to support the scheme would be heartily welcome.”

More information can be obtained either by turning up on those evenings, by emailing the MAC under: enquiries@mevagisseyactivitycentre.eclipse.co.uk or phoning 01726 844733.
