01.06.11: The bi-weekly village market held at Portscatho Memorial hall has been such a success, it will now be extending throughout the summer. Organised by Anne Emmett and Maggie Bray, the market has been a real draw to the village; so much so they are considering holding similar ones in surrounding villages.
Anne told Roseland Online, “Our aim was to hold a produce market, supporting local produce and local growers to sell local produce locally. We have locals selling local honey, flowers, jams, crafts and artisan breads. We are also trying to get locals to bring their jam jars and egg boxes back to us so we can recycle them.”
The next bi-weekly event is this Friday (3rd June) from 10.30 – 12.30 and will run throughout the summer at these times. More dates can be found on the Roseland Online calendar and you can follow their blog by visiting www.thevillagemarket.tumblr.com or contact them under Annie – 01872 580278 or Maggie – 01326 270054.
