A drug addict (Luss) is spotted and trained by the KGB to be a low-level spy and assassin. Promised just 5 years service, she becomes caught between the KGB and the CIA and plays the two against each other in an attempt to reclaim her life.
Once again, Luc Besson writes and directs a cracking thriller. Some solid performances from all actors, it fails to attain the charm and universal appeal of his superb Fifth Element or Leon. Nevertheless it’s a well woven yarn that leaves one guessing who did what and why up to the last minute.
Verdict: Another corker from the inimitable Luc Besson that will charm thriller lovers. ****
