Following the Metropolitan Police Service’s statement that a Hotpoint FF175BP fridge freezer has been identified as the initial source of the Grenfell Tower fire in North Kensington, Hotpoint has issued a product notice on the following fridge freezers.

Anyone who has a one of these models must register their appliance immediately with the manufacturer to receive any updates.

• Hotpoint fridge freezer model number FF175BP (White)
• Hotpoint fridge freezer model number FF175BG (Graphite)

In most fridges you can find the model number on a bar code on a sticker behind the salad container. Owners can ring 0800 316 3826 or visit the Hotpoint website.

These models were discontinued in 2009, but 64,000 were sold between March 2006 and July 2009. It is not known how many are still in use.

At this stage there is no specific reason for you to switch off your fridge freezer, pending further investigation.
