We have recently been working whilst socially distanced in the tree nursery – we call it work but it’s really fun digging, getting muddy and having a natter over progress! Whilst we cannot invite more people to participate at this time, we could really do with some more canes and/or tree guards and some wire fencing/posts – do you have any of these in the back of your shed/garage that you are willing to donate? The more materials we have, the more trees we can bring on, resulting in greater uptake of carbon dioxide with potential to mitigate against climate change – win/win! Some trees were recently donated at the nursery site but with no note of who left them; part of the planning process includes detailing provenance to later ensure the right tree is planted in the right place. So, if it was you who very kindly donated these trees, please let us know!
In our previous report we mentioned localism and have subsequently discovered a new start-up just outside Veryan; a community supported agriculture scheme. What’s that? It’s an opportunity for local people to invest in local growers in return for a share of the veggies grown. If you’re interested in supporting this venture, or just want to find out more, head over to our Facebook page where you’ll find more details.
At the time of writing, we are still hoping to find a financially aware person to become our Treasurer, which will be on a voluntary basis and anticipate could require a couple of hours attention per week. Could you be this person? If you think so, please do get in touch using the details below.
Our members are still keeping in touch by zoom meetings, the next one being on Monday 25th January. If you would like to join us please do let us know and we will send you the link.
We would very much welcome your feedback on the above so please do contact REACT (info@react.org.uk). Alternatively, if you have questions/comments about low carbon energy or other environmental initiatives please do get in touch. You can also follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/RoselandEnvironment. Finally, we appreciate not everyone has digital communication so if you’d prefer to contact us in writing pop your note into one of our post boxes located outside the shop in Veryan/Gerrans/St Mawes and Harris’s Garage and we’ll be in touch!
