A fundraising feast courtesy of the Hidden Hut team, held in Gerrans’ Church Close recreation area raised a whopping £1600 on the night and some funds are still to be counted.
The first community event held in the Gwark Gwel An Mor open space (formerly Jollity Farm) saw around 200 residents enjoying paella in the warm June sunshine and, thanks to the generosity of Simon and Jemma Stallard and their Hidden Hut team, the entire £7 ticket price, plus extra donations, will be donated directly to Gerrans Parish play areas.
The hope is that now this event has raised awareness of this wonderful community resource, more events of the same kind will take place there and the new equipment will help others come together in this reclaimed space that was recently taken back by Gerrans parish after a long period of neglect.
