The Roundhouse Barns – Roseland’s only “enjoyengland” 5* rated B&B and Self Catering accommodation – has been shortlisted for a prestigious VisitCornwall award.
Every year, Visit Cornwall runs a competition loosely called “The Cornwall Tourism Oscars”, designed to recognise achievement in the Tourism Industry across Cornwall and the Roundhouse Barns in St Just is already guaranteed a bronze for its shortlist in both categories “Small Self Catering Establishment of the Year” and “B&B/Guest Accommodation of the Year”, guaranteeing them a chance to represent the county in the South West Regional Awards and ultimately the National Excellence Awards.
Owners Barbara and Mark Sadler told Roseland Online: “To our knowledge, we are the only Roseland Business that has been shortlisted – although we’ve not seen the complete list as yet – and we will find out whether we’ve won either the Gold or Silver in both categories at a Black Tie Dinner in the St Mellion Golf & Country Club on 7th October.”
As part of the short listing process, Roundhouse Barns were “Mystery Shopped” by undercover inspectors from Visit Cornwall and Barbara and Mark both admitted they had no idea who had recommended them for the prestigious award.
“It’s taken us a while to get this far in the process,” Barbara continued, “We had to submit our entries in to Visit Cornwall on 14th May. It was a lengthy process completing our entry – as a small husband-and-wife team, we had to do most of the application work in the evenings – but it does seem that “burning the midnight oil” paid off.
We’re taking our cleaners with us to the Gala Dinner and are paying for them to stay over with us at St Mellion as a thank you, but we can’t afford to get too carried away as we’ve all got to be back at work at 9:00am!
