Roseland’s first European style Christmas market will be held in St Mawes this coming Saturday. There are over thirty stalls scattered around various indoor locations in the village from the St Mawes Hotel, along the front to the Memorial Hall.
The event has been in planning since the beginning of October. Organiser, Marianne told Roseland Online, “We’re looking for the whole Roseland Christmas Market experience to be shared by the Roseland stall holders who will be welcoming many visitors to enjoy the spectacle.”
Other events will see Father Christmas in his grotto, a Christmas Fairy Performance running every hour, where one child from each performance can win a hallmarked silver snowflake and each child gets a gift. The late night shopping will include Christmas hampers, and Christmas Trees and the hotels, pubs and restaurants have put on food from Hog Roasts, Fish Curries, 2 for 1 lunches, roasted chestnuts and mulled wine.
On the entertainment front, the Falmouth Marine Band will be there at 3.00pm to present their fundraising cheque to Little Harbour Children’s Hospice, the Drumba Samba Band will be giving market visitors the opportunity to ‘have a go’ on the day.
Marianne added, “The Lantern Carrying local Carol singers will be bringing their Christmas Cheer to all of the stall venues around the village and we also have some of our young talented buskers playing for us dotted around the village. We have also been very well supported by our local businesses who have very generously donated some amazing raffle prizes and the children will have plenty to do all afternoon and evening.”
