02.01.12: A new TV series presented by actress/comedian Caroline Quentin starting this evening on ITV will feature two South Central Cornwall businesses. The programme entitled ‘Cornwall’ has been filmed over the summer of 2011 at both Treloan Holiday campsite, ‘Arthur’s Field’, in Gerrans and at ‘The Hidden Hut’ on Porthcurnick beach, Portscatho.
Jemma Glass, propietor of the ‘Hidden Hut’ told Roseland Online, “We found the whole experience really good fun, albeit slightly daunting. Caroline and the camera crew were lovely and did their best to put us at ease during the filming. However, it’s difficult to get your head around the possibility that millions of strangers will be watching and judging you!”
Jemma, and her partner, Simon Stallard, took over the Hidden Hut just last summer, so theirs was a baptism of fire having the film crew there during their first year.
Jemma continued, “The show is being aired during prime time national TV, in the Corrie slot! So that in itself is quite scary. We just hope it helps promote The Hidden Hut and the Roseland Peninsula as nice places to visit.”
Pete and Debbie Walker at Treloan are excited by the idea of how the show will look, too. Both have yet to see any episodes, so this will be the first time they’ll see themselves on TV, so it’s both daunting and exciting for them both as well.
Debbie told us they had a phone call from the production team to say they would be in from episode 4, but Jemma and Simon missed their call whilst away on a well earned break, but believe themselves to be in episode 3 at first.
Many Roseland residents and visitors will no doubt be watching, hoping to see themselves on camera during the many events both locations put on over the summer and we’re all hopeful that this programme will give both South Central Cornwall and Cornwall in general a boost to summer trade for 2012.
The eight episode show will be on at 8.00pm each Monday evening on ITV from this evening.
