Stage:9 Pois-de-Picardie to The British World War 1 Cemetery at Ham near the banks of The River Somme – 103 Kms/7hrs-5mins/662metres climbed.
The sign that I had been aiming for after cycling around 700 kilometres. The immaculately maintained cemetery is located on the edge of the village of Muelle Villette.
My Grandfather’s grave. Pioneer Henry Evans of The Royal Engineers – his name carved in limestone and with a red rose in flower.
Grandfather Henry Evans lies alongside his comrades that were killed by the same bomb blast in February 1918.
They shall not grow old
As we that are left grow old

Ham British War Cemetery contains 485 Commonwealth Fallen of which 218 are unidentified. Many of the Fallen were under 20 years of age.
