Roseland Online caught up with Chris and Andy to ask them about their route and which places they were particularly looking forward to seeing on their way to John o’Groats.
Chris told us “Fairly near the beginning, the Tarka Trail in North Devon is really pretty as we head north towards Braunton. From there I am really looking forward to the Taunton and Bridgewater Canal – mainly because it is flat! Then we go on to Wells with its fabulous Cathedral and Vicar Close (a 14th century street Andy thought I might have helped to build).
“Further north we shall pass historic Ironbridge and cycle through Moss Side in Manchester before heading for the Forest of Bowland – that is our halfway point!”
For his part, Andy added; “Cycling through the centre of Bristol will be very special since I love the place. A little further north, Gloucester will be fun since I was born there! But I suppose that I am particularly looking forward to Scotland, of course for the scenery but also for the distilleries!”
Not unsurprisingly, both our intrepid riders did admit that arriving at John o’Groats will be the pinnacle of the trip. Their journey starts next Saturday and they should arrive at their destination on Sunday 15 October. Roseland Online will be following their progress.
